Never Apply Pressure to your Child’s Homework

A nagging parent is like a nagging partner. Fathers (and some mothers) know this feeling very well. So never nag to your child to finish their homework. Adding pressure (through nagging) is not healthy to your child’s behavioral development. Some parents (especially mothers) are meant to nag at their kids over our child’s smallest mistakes. Parents should also assess themselves once in a while if what they are doing already falls on the “nagging” category.

If they are, it should be stop immediately.

Some parents do not assess themselves as they think that they are doing it for the sake of their children. The intention is good but the method is wrong. Nagging will only add pressure and tension to your child’s young mind and feelings what may led to a negative behavior as your child grows (both physically and mentally).

One of the most commonly nagged mistake made by our children are their messy study rooms. When nagging in the middle of their homework will simply creates a negative feeling of irritation to the child. It is advisable to just leave it as it was and ask your child to fix or clean those once they had a free time had finished the homework early or during weekends.

Sometimes applying too much pressure to your child’s study such that he maintains a high school grades or being a constant top in his class will have the reverse effect. The child will slowly begin to lose their interest in school to which the only reason for attending it is because their parent’s nagging, pushing and pressures.

Remember that your child is on the most important part of his learning stage. Anything negative (if done too often) will definitely affect his future behaviors.

Taking a Break in Every Study Sessions

Though the goal is to finish the homework at the earliest possible time, it is not healthy if the child will finished it and at the same time feeling exhausted. Make sure to get your child time to rest between homework and unfinished tasks.

It is advisable to have your child take a short break, stretch out, take the toilet break at regular intervals during homework time. Homework scheduling should not be longer than 2 hours a day as this is already tedious for the child. Let them have a short break every 30 or 45 minutes. They can also ask for some inputs and help to their parents during this break times.

Break times will also refresh the child’s mind and think for solutions for math problems, better ideas for a school report, realized the mistakes made.
