Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is a prime recruiting agency of Central Government. Every year, SSC conducts various recruitment examinations and recruits thousands of young men and women for various positions of Central Government.

SSC CHSL (Combined Higher Secondary Level) Examination is a very popular examination conducted by SSC every year. The Government recruits more than three thousand young people for various clerical posts through this examination of SSC. Let us know about this examination in detail.

Posts filled by SSC CHSL Examination: Every year, the Government of India fills up the posts of Postal Assistants, Sorting Assistants, Data Entry Operator, Lower Division Clerk, Junior Secretarial Assistant and Data Entry Operator through this examination,

Eligibility conditions: (a) Indian nationals, who have qualified Higher Secondary (X+II) Examination from any recognized Board of India, can appear in this examination. The candidates must possess this degree as on 1st August of the year of the examination.

(b) The candidates must be between 18 years to 27 years on 1st August of the year of the examination. SC/ST candidates get 5 years relaxation, OBC candidates and ex-Servicemen get 3 years age relaxation and persons with disabilities get 10 years relaxation.

Scheme of the Examination: SSC CHSL Examination is held in three stages.

In the first stage, the candidates have to appear in a computer-based MCQ test. The test consists of 100 questions. 25 questions each are on English, 25 questions on Quantitative Aptitude, 25 questions are on Reasoning and 25 questions are on General Awareness. The examination is of 75 minutes duration except for physically challenged candidates. The candidates who qualify this test, appear in the pen and paper test on descriptive English of one-hour duration. Those who qualify this test, appear in the skill test/computer proficiency test of a duration of 15 minutes.

Some other details: The application for SSC CHSL Examination is required to be filled online. This year, the online forms will be available in November, 2018. The examination fee is Rs. 100/-, but the females, reserved category candidates and physically challenged candidates are exempted.
